Every year, GA has four Superfans, whose job is to announce sports games during morning meetings, organize student sections at games, and get as many people as they can to show out and support the teams. This past year, the Superfans were Eddie McGettigan ’25, Flinn Brooks ’25, Liv Reynolds ’25, and Gabby Bowes ’25. Their successors will be Jake McVeigh ’26, Sean McGettigan ’26, Zoey Clark ’26, and Anna Weber ’26.
Selected for their consistent support at sporting events, these students have dedication and passion for all GA sports teams combined with a desire to collaborate with the rest of the student body to spread as much positivity and support as possible.

“I like that during morning meetings we will give the schedule for the games, maybe give a little joke or something like that about who’s playing,” McVeigh said. “[We’ll] just have positive energy to support our teammates and support our peers.”
The Superfans believe that students showing out at games improves the performance of the sports teams, as they have had this experience at their own sports competitions.
“I always look back to my freshman year, and I feel like there were a lot more people at games,” Eddie McGettigan said. “This year we were thinking, how do we do that, how do we get people to show out, because lately, there aren’t many that many people going to games.”
The Superfans started strong this year by hosting many student sections at a variety of sports games, but despite their efforts, the turnout of the student body still wasn’t up to their hopes. Due to this lack of student interest in showing out to games, the Superfan student sections faded as the year progressed.
“Our goal is really to continue it throughout the whole year [and] don’t quit, don’t give up, even though [the seniors are on] senior project, and really keep the student body up-to-date with the home games,” Sean McGettigan said.
The Superfans’ goal for the 2025-2026 season is to maintain the momentum from the beginning of the season and finish the year out strong. They are going to make sure they are still fulfilling their Superfan commitment, even as this year’s Superfans head out to their senior projects. The Superfans expressed their excitement for the upcoming sports year and their excitement to rekindle student support at events.
