Following their home opener at Citizen Bank Park on March 31 – a 6-1 win against the Colorado Rockies – the Philadelphia Phillies have had a promising start to their season. Known for their loyal fan base and long history, the team hopes for a successful 2025 season.

The Phillies team contains a strong core of star players, such as Zack Wheeler, Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, JT Realmuto and Kyle Schwarber, whose abilities to make big plays have already been established. Moreover, this year, the Phillies have made some favorable additions to their roster.

Notable trades to the Phillies this season have included left-handed pitcher Jesus Luzardo in late Dec. 2024, who was signed to a one-year contract. Already in the 2025 season, Luzardo has started and pitched in nine games, with an exceptional Earned Run Average of 2.00.

The Phillies additionally gained left fielder Max Kepler from the Minnesota Twins.

The team’s record so far, with 28 wins and 18 losses, places them second in the NL East. Standing only behind the New York Mets, who hold a record of 29 wins and 18 losses so far, the Phillies are fighting for the NL East title.

Clinching the NL East would guarantee the Phillies not only a spot in the postseason as the division champions, but also a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the NL Division Series. However, the Phillies are not the current favorites to win the NL East Division, as the Mets have won against Philadelphia during their three meetings.

The Phillies’ upcoming games comprise of a series of three away games against the Pittsburgh Pirates from June 6 to June 8, into three home games against the Chicago Cubs from June 9 to June 11 and rounding off the week with a series of three games, home, against the Toronto Blue Jays, which will take place from June 13 to June 15.

The Philadelphia Phillies aim to maintain their high level of performance, with aspirations for a potential World Series appearance. Their performance this June will be critical in setting the tone for the season’s remainder, banking on strong performances by key, tenured players and the continued development of new prospects to bolster their roster.
