Superfan Tradition Lives On Through Four New Leaders

The tradition of GA Superfans continues into the 2024-2025 school year! This year’s superfans were Madison Destefano ‘24 and Izzy Casey ‘24. Next year, the leadership positions will be taken over by Eddie McGettigan ‘25, Liv Reynolds ‘25, Flinn Brooks ‘25, and Gabby Bowes ‘25.

This upcoming school year, GA has made the huge decision to increase the number of superfans from two to four. This change is supposed to increase students’ participation in sporting events and expand school spirit beyond just athletes.

Destefano takes her role as a superfan very seriously.

“To me, being a superfan means being a leader,” Destefano said. “It also means getting recognized for my love of GA sports.”

Destefano also believes having fans at the games not only increases school spirit but also allows the teams to perform better.

That being said, next year’s superfans fit the criteria. McGettigan, Reynolds, Brooks, and Bowes all have an intense love for GA sports and wish to support every GA sports team.

“We’re super pumped about this role,” Brooks said. “We’re going to bring a lot of energy, and I’m excited to bring the energy to each game and each sport.”

The main component the four juniors took away from this year’s superfans is their energy. They admire the way they pump up the students and get everyone excited about GA sports.

“We’re going to make it as fun as possible for the school so that we can help build our school spirit and help get more people out to the games,” Bowes said. “We can really build GA athletics into something that the whole community looks forward to every night or on weekends.”

The newest superfans look forward to continuing the legacy of Destefano and Casey, while also adding new components, such as new themes for games.

One last piece of advice from the seniors is to always be enthusiastic and excited, as it will persuade people to support more GA sports that often get overlooked.

“Be enthusiastic and encouraging in order to get superfans to come to the games,” Destefano said.

Next year, McGettigan, Reynolds, Brooks, and Bowes will continue the legacy of GA superfans for the 2024-2025 school year.
