Super Bowl LVIII was won by the Kansas City Chiefs on February 11, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The score was 25-22, and the game went into overtime. Many celebrities attended, including Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and more. The halftime show was performed by Usher, who recently released his newest album a few days prior to the Super Bowl.

Usher included many of his popular songs such as “Caught Up,” “Superstar,” and “OMG.” He brought on several guests such as Alicia Keys for their duet “My Boo,” H.E.R, Lil John for “Turn Down for What” and ended the performance with his hit “Yeah” with Lil John, Ludacris, and will.iam.

Usher included several dance sequences and even roller skating. Patrick “Fresh” Henry designed the costumes for the marching band, and Ib Kamara representing Off-White helped to design Usher’s flashy blue and black roller rink costume. Many of the backup dancers fitted colorful and sparkly two pieces to match Usher and the other guest singers.

A total of 14 songs were performed, and the show took approximately 15 minutes. Thousands of people watched Usher’s performance from the stadium, and many more watched it on live television.

Lily Hutapea 27’ watched the halftime show with her family. She listens to music quite frequently, so she was excited to watch Usher perform live.

“I thought it was entertaining,” Hutapea said. “All I can remember is last year’s performance and I thought Rihanna did a good job. I hope to see Drake in future halftime shows.”

Kaylin Trent 27’ also watched the halftime show and she had a different take on Usher’s performance.

“I thought it was pretty good,” Trent said. “But I was honestly expecting better.” “It was worse than in past years. I thought that Rihanna’s performance last year was good. The performance with Bruno Mars and Beyonce a while ago was also really good”

While a lot of members of the GA community watched the Super Bowl, not many had strong opinions on the halftime show. Many students thought Rihanna’s performance last year was good, and while they think Usher did a good job, his performance was not their favorite.
