Going into the upcoming school year, GA will be saying goodbye to Dean of Students Ms. Lintgen and welcoming Mr. Moll to this new role.

Ms. Lintgen will be departing GA to become a Head of School at Hathaway Brown, a K-12 all-girls school in Cleveland, Ohio. Stepping into the role as Interim Dean of Students will be Upper School Math Teacher and Head of Washington House, Mr. Steve Moll.

The Dean of Students is a heavy job for any one person, as it includes organizing school-wide events and working with clubs to plan different activities for the Upper School to enjoy among many other responsibilities.

Ms. Lintgen has been helping to coordinate these school events for the past couple of years, from putting together class trips to arranging Community Time activities. Mr. Moll will assume these responsibilities as he serves as the Interim Dean of Students for the next two years.

“[I’m] very excited to have a larger role in the student life at GA… in the bigger picture of planning, working with community time, and different programming within GA,” said Mr. Moll.

He stated that the opportunity differs from anything he has done before, continuing to say that the position of Dean of Students is a lot more interactive and creates much more responsibility for him than his role as a House Head.

“As excited as I am, I really love Washington, and it’s hard to step away, but I’ve been working hard to make sure that Washington is in good hands,” says Mr. Moll. He continues on to say that this new responsibility allows him to not just connect with a specific house, but to be able to “broaden his reach to connect with all Upper School GA students.”

As for plans for the upcoming school year, Mr. Moll has stated that there are no concrete new plans for the future. Instead, he would like to build on the existing programming that Ms. Lintgen has established in the past few years.

“This is a very new role at GA, and it’s only been here for two years with Ms. Lintgen, and she’s done so much to build it and create standards for it and different types of programming,” Mr. Moll said, “I’m really in the process of looking back and seeing what worked and what didn’t; what we can do moving forward and figuring out what things are really worth investigating.”

Because the Dean of Students role still has major responsibilities and potential changes that can be made, Mr. Moll ends off by saying that “there are many pieces of the puzzle” that he is trying to fit together for the next school year. As of now, GA looks forward to taking on a new Dean of Students, Mr. Moll.
