Super Speed: Evan Badami’s Success in Track and Field

Freshman Evan Badami, class of 2026, recently broke many school records for track and field. In this article you will learn all about Evan and what else he likes to do outside of track.

When talking to Badami, we wanted to learn more about the records he has broken, including the freshman 400 meter record. “My goal is to beat the full school 400 meter record,” said Badami.

Badami’s skills are amazing for a freshman, and he told us he started track recently: in 8th grade. “Before I played soccer and baseball most of my life, I discovered through these sports that the reason I was doing well in them was because of my speed. Speed is all you need for track,” said Badami. The main reason for his start of track was from the encouragement of his brother, Alex, who ran track at GA and is now running track in college.

When hearing that Badami started track in 8th grade we wanted to know the difference between Middle School and High School track here at Germantown Academy. Badami said that “the biggest difference would have to be the team work and connection. In Middle School we were a team but not as connected as we are in High School. I have made relationships with my teammates and have made strong connections.”

“I always wear the same quarter zip hoodie every single meet. I also always have mismatched socks on. I feel like it is a  lucky charm,” said Badami. He has won many meets this way, but his most valuable experience was his first high school meet: “even though I did not run my fastest, I won… and I realized that I could be good at track. That first meet set up a path for me to follow.” Badami values his teammates and his coaches who helped him at this meet and throughout the start of this season. We can’t wait to see how Badami will progress in the coming years.
