Headline: As the 2021-2022 Germantown Academy school year comes to an end, it is time to say farewell to our wonderful Student Body President, Casey Traina ‘22.
As graduation is right around the corner, it is time to reminisce on all of the hard work and dedication Casey Traina ‘22, Student Body President of Germantown Academy, has shown throughout the school year.
Traina wishes to “thank everyone for looking to [him] as a leader,” whether that was “listening to [him] at morning meeting,” reading his emails, or “asking his opinion on a new initiative.” He expresses his gratitude for being fortunate enough to have been the Student Body President, and he has certainly done a great job.
Traina expresses that his favorite part of the job was “meeting new people.” Being president introduced him to teachers, students, and other faculty that he wouldn’t have had the chance to meet otherwise. Traina felt fortunate to “walk down the hallway and say hi to the majority of the people [he] passed.”
Casey shares that being President wasn’t all about planning dances and events, as “the most time-consuming part was the frequent and impromptu meetings with teachers, administrators, and other students.” Traina says that the role of President, however, was “rewarding” because it “shaped [him] into a better public speaker, negotiator, and leader.”
Some last words Traina has to say to students is that he encourages them to be “ambitious.” He states that “[he] would have loved to have received random emails from students with random ideas they had” to propose to administration. Lastly, he encourages students to go to SGA meetings, reminding them that these meetings are open to everyone.
As we welcome Sam Wang ‘23 into the role of Student Body President for the 2022-2023 Germantown Academy school year, Traina believes that Sam is truly ready for this role. The only advice he has for Wang is to “prioritize his time” and have good time management as it’s a challenge to balance “school, college applications, and the Presidency.”
We wish Casey the best of luck on his college journey at Stanford University and thank him for all of the hard work he put in as Student Body President of Germantown Academy. He will forever be remembered for his kindness and leadership.
