Did you expect your results: Yes

Reaction:

1) I wasn’t surprised that Taylor Swift was my number one because when she released Red Taylor’s Version, I played it non-stop. ABBA and Dan+Shay are also no surprise because they are my go-to summer artists and I love how upbeat their songs are.

2) I was surprised by Heat Waves being my top song! It was interesting because none of my top songs align with my top artists but I guess I just like a lot of different music!

Reaction: My Spotify Wrapped this year was more or less what I expected it to be. My listening habits are generally centered around binge-listening to an artist’s entire discography at once, so my top artists all have relatively large discographies. I’m a bit surprised by Elliott Smith being my second top artist, as I only started listening to him in the second half of the year. My top songs aren’t too surprising either: however, Lauryn Hill’s “Intro” is only there because I accidentally left the track on repeat at one point! Overall, this year’s Spotify Wrapped is pretty expected and representative of the year.

Overall, this year’s Spotify Wrapped year-in-review encompassed a wide range of music from indie folk to J-pop. Although some were shocked by their top artists or songs, the majority were not very surprised. Spotify Wrapped doesn’t calculate your whole year’s activity, just the first ten months. This could have been why some were surprised by their top artists/songs if they listened to them mostly after October ended. Based on the number of minutes people listened to music on Spotify (everyone but one person had over 10,000 minutes), it can be inferred that GA community members use Spotify very extensively.
