After her six-year hiatus, Adele releases a breathtaking and new song called “Easy On Me”.

Adele usually writes songs about herself, and this song continues that theme. “Easy On Me” is said to be a song about her recent divorce from husband, Simon Konecki, and how they live across the street from each other, now sharing custody of their son, Angelo. Adele is now dating Rich Paul and is trying to move on from her last marriage. Adele explains that she wrote “Easy on Me” to explain to her son why the divorce happened and why she had to ruin his chance of a perfect family in order to pursue her own happiness. To Vogue, Adele stated, “I wanted to explain to him through this record, when he’s in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness.”

“Easy On Me” is number one on Billboard’s hot 100 singles chart with an astonishing 54 million views. To add on, her music video on YouTube has 133 million views. This song also broke Spotify’s record for the most streams in a single day, with 24 million clicks. Some people are surprised that this song is such a hit because it is a piano ballad with no percussion, defying contemporary pop

Even though this song is a ballad and not like the popular pop songs today, this song is a hit because of Adele’s amazing vocals and musical ability. Adele’s raw and emotional lyrics are also breathtaking and relate to many people in different ways.

“Easy On Me” is just one song on Adele’s new album, 30,  coming out on November 19. This will be Adele’s long awaited fourth full-length album and is being released six years after her last album. This album will feature twelve songs and three bonus tracks (on the deluxe edition). 30 will be an open letter to her son about her life and is titled that because this was the age when Adele’s “life fell apart,” she told Vogue.
