The Philadelphia Flyers undoubtedly have faced challenges during the 2020-2021 season, but, amidst all the chaos, they pulled through with Grit.

Local sport networks have openly said that the Flyer’s have a 52% chance of going to the playoffs. This is the third highest percentage in our East coast division. The Flyers currently have 16/1 odds of coming out victoriously with the Stanley Cup, putting them in the top 10 favorites to win this year.

The Flyers have displayed true perseverance throughout the past month. On February 4th, they had 33/1 odds of winning the cup, but as of March 2nd, the odds increased to 16/1 odds. While their record may be improving, the team did in fact face some of the biggest struggles they will probably see all season as 6 Flyers players were added to the Covid protocol list. A usually routine trip to D. C. for the Flyers turned into a trip that they will never forget, as Claude Giroux and Justin Braun were added to the protocol list on February 9th; Jakub Voracek on the 11th; Scott Laughton and Oskar Lindbolm on the 12th; and, finally, Travis Konecny was added on the 14th. On top of all the stress that the team now was under, the NHL made a controversial decision to make the team play against the New York Rangers regardless of missing 6 prominent players. While the team was frustrated, they remained faithful—with no complaints—as they prepared to play the rangers on February 28th, unfortunately falling to the Rangers 3-2 with a valiant effort. They quickly bounced back though, beating them 6-4 only days later

The Flyers demonstrated everything the team stands for as they overcame issues with Covid-19 and their own league, all while improving their record to now stand at 11-4. While the Flyers’ obstacles have been substantial this season, some victories for the team also include the return of Shawn Courtier after a shoulder injury, Nolan Patrick coming back from migraines, and Oskar Lindblom continuing to play after missing most of last season due to a rare form of bone cancer.
