I’m baaaaaaack! That’s right, your favorite pop-culture-drama-gossip-news section just got renewed for another Edition. For this Edition, I’m here to talk about the new year. More specifically, I’m here to talk about the pretty rocky start to 2020 seen throughout pop culture. So, without further adieu, here’s this Edition’s rundown of What’s Dishin’.
- Things have not been great in terms of foreign affairs for the US. But, I can say with certainty that not everything about this crisis has been negative: the popularity of WW3 memes throughout the internet has definitely been A+ so far this year.
- Early January 2020 has already seen quite a few scandals. Kylie Jenner was accused of cultural appropriation within the first three days of 2020, and James Charles also sparked outrage with an insensitive WW3 meme.
- Forget the scandals and politics, let’s get to the real news! Jeffree Star announced that he and his boyfriend, Nathan Schwandt, officially broke up on January 11. And this was just after the two moved into a new $14.6 million mansion in the Hidden Hills! Fans were shocked and upset, to say the least.
- The 2020 Oscar nominations were released, and they sparked outrage yet again for a lack of diverse nominees. Cynthia Erivo, who played Harriet Tubman in Harriet, was the only nonwhite nominee. Joker led the nominations with a total of 11.
- Selena Gomez released her new album, Rare, on January 10, and it has already received lots of attention. In contrast, Justin Bieber released his new single “Yummy” on January 3, and audiences agree that it sounds a lot more like a flop than a bop.
- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to step down as senior members of the royal family. They plan to split their time between the UK and North America, though they will no longer receive taxpayer money. While the details of this affair are still developing, it’s clear to say that the tea is piping hot in the UK right now.
Welp, that’s all for now. Let’s hope that the rest of 2020 is a lot better than how it started. Anyways, thanks for reading, and keep on the lookout for our next Edition to see What’s Dishin’.
